I'm a big fan of rpg style gaming coming from a big family that would get together to enjoy a weekend of tabletop style and live action style gaming melded into one. Growing up with a mother that was a Dungeon/Game Master was a lot of fun! I remember friends being so jealous and asking if my mom could adopt them. It was really cool.
I recall looking through Dungeon Magazines and Dragon Magazines from the 70's, 80's and a few 90's. The style of the magazines changed a lot over the years. As I got older, some college pals couldn't believe that we had the original D&D guidebooks, plus some of the original campaign sets. Currently, my mom has all the way up through to the 3rd Edition for AD&D in the game room/library at home.
Believe it or not, it was my mom that got everyone into the MMO and F2P gaming world. We were all killing the afternoon or night on the Sega Genesis, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, GBA, PlayStation, Game Cube - well you get the picture. We hadn't really explored the option of multiplayer games on the computer since the ones we had were solo play and didn't have online features.
But soon we had EverQuest, DiabloII & DiabloII: LoD, then came Shadowbane, Guild Wars, Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter Nights, Silk Road, World of Warcraft, Magic the Gathering, Shaiya, Perfect World, Rohan, Maplestory, Pirates of the Burning Seas, Dungeons & Dragons Online, Pirates of the Caribbean, Swords of the New World, Fly for Fun and the list goes on. Because there are new games that come out all the time, every day, week, month, year. All to attempt to sate the ravenous hunger of the gaming community.
This is my blog to share my love of gaming and games. The best form of entertainment that won't break your bank account - at least if you're responsible and don't lose your head. Gaming is a great way to reduce stress after an aggravating day/night, it's social, interactive, addictive if you aren't careful - and it's a great way to get together with family that's all over the world and meet up to have some fun. Lots cheaper than a phone call - depending on your carrier & service. Plus you can actually do something together - go raid a castle, find a treasure or team up to take on a game boss!
Hey, every gamer has their own gaming style - so there are a lot of different games offered to fit them. But some people just don't get gamers at all. They think we're just wasting time and killing brain cells. Well, vegging out in front of the cable t.v. or watching movies isn't really engaging much brain activity. Try going on a huge raid or a guild vs guild battle where you have to actively keep track of your team members, the other players, the enemies and then hopefully try and make sure you don't all get killed. I'd guarantee there's a whole lot of brain activity, including some adrenaline pumping in some of these cases.
Games are interactive, at least the ones I love to play are. So I'll be offering a whole lot of gaming info, resources and reviews, plus anything else I can think of to put into this here blog. I hope that you tell me about your favorite games and your game style. I really enjoy connecting with other gamers and getting a chance to hook up in an awesome game.
Till next time - Game on!
