Final Fantasy 14 MMO - Review

In the fascinating world of video games, RPG or role playing games deserves a special mention. Role playing games are mostly adventure games where the players are some sort of characters and are engaged in some sort of mission. They have to complete some sort of tasks, going through various different levels and on completion of these tasks, they emerge victorious. A typical feature of these games is that the characters grow in physique and powers and their characters are defined by the players themselves. This game has been created by Hironobu Sakaguchi and was developed and launched in Japan by Square. Though it was initially released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, it was then redesigned for other different consoles too. The game has garnered some really excellent reviews mostly because of its superb graphics though critics have complained that amateur players have to wander a lot to find random battle encounters and this takes up a lot of time.

The storyline of the game is also very intriguing indeed. There are four young warriors called Light Warriors each carrying one of elemental orbs of their world. But the orbs have been darkened by the corrupt forces of the four Elemental Fiends. Thus they join hands to defeat the evil powers, bring back light to the orbs and thereby save the world.

Here the game consists of four basic gameplay modes- town and dungeon maps, a menu screen, a battle screen and an overworld map. The map can be utilized by the players as a scaled-downed version of the fictional world of the game and it can also be used by them to direct the characters to different locations.

Here each character is assigned an occupation with different abilities. The classes can change later in the game along with changes on abilities, magic and weapons which previously they didn't have access to. The magical spells can be bought and are of two types here-the white one is used for healing and black for destruction.

Initially it is a little difficult to follow the game as it becomes more and more complex later. This is especially hard for people who are new to this game or the entire genre of role playing games.
