Blizzard may be keeping a tight lid on Cataclysm's release date, but some good old fashioned sleuthing has uncovered a very plausible launch date for the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion. MMO-Champion has found this little tidbit in Cataclysm's game files:
+ARENA_MASTER_NO_SEASON_TEXT = "Arena battles and Rated Battlegrounds are only available during an active player versus player combat season. Season nine will begin on December 14th, so be prepared at that time to take your shot at glory!";
That in itself isn't enough to pinpoint the date, but combine it with this blue post that confirms Season Nine will begin "approximately one week after the official launch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm" and you get a tentative date: December 7th, a Tuesday.
Of course, keep in mind that until Blizzard gives the official word all of this is just guesswork.
