Simply titled Tomb Raider, the game will feature a young and inexperienced Lara Croft on her first adventure, and as publisher Square Enix states, she's "an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive."

"Forget everything you knew about Tomb Raider," studio head Darrell Gallagher said in a statement. "This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other."
Gameplay details are sparse at this point, but Square Enix revealed that the January issue of Game Informer magazine will feature a cover story that includes 10 pages of information on Lara Croft's reboot. Subscribers should see the issue in their mailboxes starting today and the issue is due to hit newsstands on December 11.
Two bits of info we do know: Tomb Raider will be an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC game, and based on the Game Informer cover art, Lara Croft is ditching her handguns in favor of a bow.
Sharkey says: That cover art is stunning. With Square Enix on board, I'm sure the game will have some gorgeous cinematics. And after the fun Guardian of Light downloadable adventure, I'm hopeful Crystal Dynamics is ready to truly recreate Lara Croft. Here's to hoping one of gaming's greatest heroines comes back with a bang.
