EA Plans to Last Star Wars: The Old Republic for 10 Years

Earlier in October, a disgruntled former BioWare employee using the name "EA Louse" wrote in a post claiming that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be one of the greatest failures in the history of MMOs from EA. However, EA, on the other hand, shows full confidence in its forthcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic and believes the game will have a 10-year lifespan and will eventually be profitable.

According to Eurogamer, Eric Brown, EA's CFO, told the UBS Annual Media and Communications Conference in New York, "Our assumptions for break-even and profitability are not seven digit subscribers. We think we can run and operate a very successful and profitable MMO at different levels."

At the same time, Brown is very confident on the lifespan of SWTOR, "The key thing here is to really perfect the product. We're shooting for an extremely high quality game experience. We view this as a 10 year opportunity."

Throughout current online games market, longevous online games with high quality are really rare. EVE OL is in its eighth years, World of Warcraft is now going through its seventh year and Lord of the Rings Online is currently in its fourth year.
